About Us
Be Safe At Home is new to Mid Michigan but is not new to the Senior Community in Long Island, New York. The United Yokefellow Ministry www.uymcares.org , headquartered on Long Island, has been providing services to support the community for more than 30 years. We are a private, governmentally chartered, non-denominational religious organization, organized under Section 170, Article 9 of the IRS Code of 1954 and operating as a 501(c)(3) since our inception in 1980.
Although our original function was to simply support and provide a place where abused women and children could come, be supported, and feel safe; today (and since 2000), through our affiliation with, and sponsorship of another 501(c)(3), Be Safe At Home, UYM has expanded its outreach to include services to the senior and disabled adult population, of all incomes.
It is our observation that the medical and senior services market has three income segments. The lower 10% is served by Medicaid and other government programs, the 25% has wealth to obtain services but the middle 65% has difficulty locating the funds or desire to spend on private pay services. Our mission is to provide the Personal Medical Alert Equipment, Medication Reminder and more, by offering a unique marketing program, thus creating an environment where products and services provided to seniors are subsidized through local, regional, national fund raising and individual donation are tax deductible by by the sponsors (concerned individuals) in the community.
In support of our commitment to expand our service areas, today we are proud to announce the opening of a new Community Outreach Center in Owosso, Michigan and the appointment of Ms DeNaze Wharton, Outreach Director. 810-348-6502
